Potatoes- cooking
Add hot milk to mashed potatoes for best results, cold milk will make the mash grey & gluggy. Potatoes are suited to roasting, steaming, boiling, mashing and frying. There are many different varieties which are best suited to certain cooking techniques. Have a look on the sign or ask your greengrocer to advise you which is best for what you want to use it for.

BIG RED Spaghetti Bolognese

A traditional meal made super easy. Even the fussiest eater will enjoy our hearty bolognese.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 rashers bacon, roughly chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 500g lean beef mince
  • 420g can HEINZ BIG RED Condensed Tomato Soup
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • ½ cup red wine
  • 2 tbsp HEINZ Tomato Ketchup or tomato paste
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 400g spaghetti, cooked and drained
  • chopped fresh parsley, to serve

Directions

1. Heat oil in a large frying pan. Add onion, bacon and garlic. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
2. Add mince and cook for a further 5 minutes, or until well browned.
3. Add the HEINZ soup, stock, wine, HEINZ ketchup and oregano. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve over spaghetti and garnish with parsley. Accompany with a salad and crusty bread.
